Alphanumic is designed for family learning. Children can use available guest activities without providing a real email address or name. Parents and guardians manage registered accounts, purchases, support, and privacy requests.
1. Who we are
Alphanumic: Spelling & Math (“Alphanumic”) is provided by Gurgen Hakobyan, an Individual Entrepreneur registered in the Republic of Armenia (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are responsible for the personal information we process to provide Alphanumic. This policy covers the Alphanumic mobile app and alphanumic.com.
2. Children and parent accounts
Alphanumic offers educational activities for children. Registration, account management, purchases, support, and privacy requests are intended for parents or legal guardians. Please use an adult's contact details when registering. A child's full name, email address, or phone number is not required to use the learning activities.
Children can use available guest activities without providing a real email address or name. Guest use still involves a generated identifier and saved learning activity, as described below. Adult account controls are placed behind a parental gate to separate account management from learning activities.
A parental gate is not a substitute for parental consent where consent is required by law. Where applicable law requires parental authorization before particular information is collected or used, we will use the required notice and consent process. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, please contact us.
3. Information we handle
Guest identifiers and learning progress
We assign each guest profile a generated identifier so the app can save progress without requiring a real email address or name. Guest identifiers and the activity linked to them are covered by this policy.
Saved learning information can include tracing completion, handwriting word progress and packs, Spelling Master completion and quiz results, and math progress, scores, attempts, and mistakes. Records may include when an activity was attempted or completed. The Alphabet and Nap Time activities do not track learning progress.
Registered parent accounts
Email registration requires an email address and password credential; first and last names are optional. We also use account identifiers and information needed to authenticate and manage the account. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifiers and account details that service makes available for sign-in, such as an email address or relay address and, where provided, a name. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
When a guest profile is converted into a registered account, its saved progress becomes associated with that account. Guest progress may become inaccessible if its access identifier is lost, for example after changing devices or clearing app data.
Saved user artwork
If you save user-created artwork, such as a coloring or tracing sample, we store the artwork, its association with the profile, and information needed to show or continue the saved work, such as the selected activity, completion status, and save time.
Subscriptions and purchases
Apple or Google processes store payments. We use RevenueCat to manage paid access and subscription status. This involves app user identifiers and purchase or subscription information such as the product, store, renewal status, and expiry. We do not receive full payment-card details from App Store or Google Play purchases.
Notifications, devices, and service operation
Firebase Cloud Messaging uses installation information and device registration tokens to deliver push notifications. Our device records can include a notification token, platform, and last-active time. Alphanumic also generates a random app-specific identifier used to protect guest session creation, apply rate limits, and prevent abuse. It is not an advertising identifier and is not used to track you across other apps or websites. Our servers and infrastructure also process information needed to deliver and secure the service and diagnose failures, which can include IP addresses, request times, and error or security information.
Support and deletion feedback
If you contact us, we handle the message and contact details you provide so we can respond. If you give a reason for account or profile deletion, that reason is optional. A guest may also optionally provide an adult email address to receive a confirmation after permanent deletion is completed. We use that address only for the deletion request and remove it after the confirmation is successfully sent. If delivery fails, we keep it only as long as reasonably needed to retry the confirmation. Please do not include a child's name or other unnecessary personal information in support messages or free-text feedback.
4. How we use information
We use information to provide guest access and parent accounts, remember learning activity and saved user artwork, authenticate users, manage paid access, deliver requested notifications and deletion confirmations, provide support, maintain service security and reliability, prevent abuse, and handle account-deletion and other privacy requests.
We may use aggregate or de-identified statistics that no longer identify or reasonably relate back to an individual learner to understand and improve Alphanumic.
We do not sell personal information. The mobile app does not contain third-party advertising, and we do not use children's learning activity for targeted advertising. We do not use third-party behavioral analytics in the learning activities.
Legal bases
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, the legal basis depends on the information and purpose. We may rely on:
- Performance of our agreement with the adult account holderfor processing the adult's information as needed to create and manage the account, provide paid access, and handle account support. An adult's agreement does not automatically provide a legal basis for processing a child's information.
- Legitimate interests in securing, operating, and supporting Alphanumic, where those interests are not overridden by the rights of the user or child.
- Legal obligations where processing or limited retention is required by law.
- Consent for processing that requires it, including parental consent where required for a child's information and consent to optional chat cookies where required by law.
Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it by contacting us. You can also turn off notifications in device settings. The website chat section below explains how to stop an active chat connection. Withdrawal does not affect processing lawfully carried out before it was withdrawn.
5. Service providers
We use service providers only for functions needed to operate Alphanumic. Depending on the feature you use, the main providers include:
- Hetzner Cloud: application and database infrastructure. See Hetzner's privacy information.
- Cloudflare: website delivery, network/security services, and object storage where used. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Apple and Google: sign-in and app-store services you choose. See Apple's privacy information and Google's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: subscription status and paid access. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: push-notification delivery. See Firebase's privacy information.
- tawk.to: website support chat, only if an adult visitor chooses to activate it. See tawk.to's Privacy Policy.
When a provider processes user data on our behalf, we require protections consistent with this policy, our contractual arrangements, applicable law, and applicable platform requirements. Some providers also act independently for their own services, for example Apple or Google in connection with store purchases or sign-in.
We may also disclose information where required by law or where necessary and lawful to protect users, our rights, or the security of the service.
6. Website support chat
The website offers tawk.to chat for parents and other adult visitors. The chat service is not loaded merely because you open the support prompt. It is activated only after you choose to continue to chat; you can contact us by email instead.
When activated, tawk.to may process your messages, contact information you choose to provide, IP address, browser or device information, page visits, and cookies or browser storage used to manage the conversation and recognize returning chat visitors. Please do not share a child's personal information in support chat. Contact us by email if a privacy request requires information about a child.
Minimizing the widget does not disconnect the chat service. To stop the connection, close all Alphanumic website tabs with chat activated. Chat cookies and stored conversations are not deleted by closing a tab. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser and contact us to request deletion of a conversation.
7. Retention and account deletion
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including providing an active account or guest profile, supporting the service, maintaining security, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. We do not keep children's personal information indefinitely merely because it might be useful later.
Requesting deletion
A registered account can request deletion in the app through Settings → Delete my account. A guest profile can request deletion through Settings → Delete Guest Data. You can also start a deletion request outside the app by emailing [email protected]. We may need to verify account ownership or obtain information that lets us locate the relevant profile before acting on an email or support request.
Guest profiles use generated identifiers rather than registered-account credentials. If you contact us about a guest profile, information available in the app can help us locate the associated records. If access to the guest identifier has already been lost, we may be unable to determine which records belong to that guest profile.
Registered-account deletion
Registered-account deletion includes a 14-day recovery window. After you confirm the request, normal account access is suspended and push notifications to the account's registered devices are stopped. You can authenticate and explicitly cancel the deletion request before permanent deletion processing begins; signing in alone does not cancel it.
After the 14-day recovery window ends, the account becomes eligible for permanent deletion. We complete permanent deletion processing within the following 14 days. When processing is successfully completed, we send a confirmation to the registered account email address. The completion email is sent only after permanent deletion has succeeded.
When deletion is scheduled, locally cached user-created artwork associated with the account may be removed from the device. If you cancel before permanent processing begins, available server copies can be synchronized again.
Guest-profile deletion
Guest-profile deletion does not include a recovery window. After the deletion request is accepted, the old guest profile becomes unavailable on that device, guest-specific local data is removed, and Alphanumic starts again with a new guest profile. The old guest profile cannot be restored through the app.
The old guest profile becomes eligible for permanent processing immediately, and we complete permanent deletion within 14 days of the request. A guest may optionally enter an adult email address when making the request to receive a completion confirmation. Providing an email is not required for deletion, does not register the guest, and is not used for marketing or to connect the new guest profile to the old one. If no email is provided, deletion still proceeds within the same 14-day period without an email confirmation.
What happens when deletion is completed
We remove the registered-account or guest-profile information, authentication links, device and notification records we no longer need, and saved user artwork such as colorings and tracing samples. Some learning records, including progress history and activity timestamps, may be retained only after they have been separated from the deleted profile and de-identified for aggregate or longitudinal analysis. We do not retain a mapping from the deleted profile to the replacement de-identified learning record.
We retain de-identified learning information only where it no longer identifies or is reasonably linkable to the account, device, parent, or child. If information remains reasonably linkable to a person, we continue to treat it as personal information and apply the retention and deletion requirements that apply to it.
We may retain limited records where required by law or reasonably needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Backup copies can remain temporarily until they age out under the applicable backup schedule; they are kept out of ordinary use, and deletion requirements are re-applied if a backup is restored. Store providers may separately retain transaction records under their own legal obligations.
Deleting an Alphanumic account or guest profile does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Store billing must be managed separately. See our subscription terms.
8. Your choices and rights
You can use available guest activities without registering, leave optional name fields blank, manage notification permission in device settings, choose email instead of website chat, request deletion of a registered account, request deletion of a guest profile directly in the app, and choose whether to provide an optional guest deletion-confirmation email.
Depending on your location and circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or complain to a data-protection authority. A parent or legal guardian may contact us about information associated with a child's use. We may verify identity and authority before fulfilling a request in order to protect the account and child.
A parent or legal guardian can ask to review or delete a child's personal information and refuse further collection or use by contacting[email protected]. If information is necessary for a feature, stopping its collection or use may mean that feature can no longer be provided. We do not require a child to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity.
9. Security and international processing
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or misuse. No system can guarantee absolute security, so please keep account credentials secure and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
We operate from Armenia and use providers that may process information in other countries. Data-protection laws can differ between countries. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use the appropriate legal or contractual arrangements for that transfer. Contact us for information about the safeguards that apply to your data and how to obtain a copy where applicable.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Alphanumic, our providers, or our information practices change. We will update the date shown on this page and provide additional notice or obtain consent where required by law.
